China-based BOE will host OnePlus’ screen launch event for the OnePlus 13 on Oct. 15. On the OP13, a new display will be introduced at the event. The brand released a poster today to reveal what to expect from the OnePlus 13’s screen. Furthermore, OnePlus employee Cai Zuxuan said the new chip and advanced screen will result in a price hike.

Display details:

The company claims the OnePlus 13’s BOE X2 display has achieved the first DisplayMate A++ certification in the world and has set 21 display records.

The OnePlus 13 will feature a 6.82-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO panel with a micro quad-curved design and ultra-thin equal-sized bezels. The display resolution is 3168 x 1440 pixels and the refresh rate is 120Hz. This will be OnePlus’ first phone with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Oppo’s Find X8 Ultra will also feature the same screen when it debuts in January 2025. As part of tomorrow’s Chinese event, OnePlus/Oppo is expected to reveal more information about the OnePlus 13 and its screen.

Custom Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC:

According to OnePlus employee Cai Zuxuan’s recent Weibo post, OnePlus will reportedly include a custom version of the next Snapdragon chip with significant energy efficiency improvements.

According to Cai, this custom SoC is more power-efficient than Apple’s A18 Pro. Qualcomm may be returning to the top of the smartphone chip efficiency rankings if this is true. According to the Weibo post, the “public version” of the chip is less efficient than the custom one.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to feature a two-tiered design. Leaked datasheets revealed two SoC models in August – SM8750 and SM8750P. As with Qualcomm’s previous “Galaxy” edition flagship SoCs, the “P” variant is expected to focus on performance.

Pricing:

OnePlus 13 tech blogger Cai Zuxuan responded when a netizen asked whether the 16GB+512GB model would cost more than 5,000 yuan. Due to the mid-configuration (16GB+512GB) version will cost more than 5,200 Yuan (Rs.61,800/-) since it has a top-notch chip and an ultra-level screen. OnePlus 12’s launch price was 4,799 Yuan (Rs.57,000/-). Thus, the OnePlus 13 will cost about 500 Yuan (Rs.6000/-) more than its predecessor.
