We’ve already seen some leaks for Apple’s October launch event (for the most part). The detailed timeline for this year’s event, as well as what we should expect in 2025, has been revealed by a reliable source.
October Event:
Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter that Apple will hold its launch event in late October, with some products coming out on November 1.
According to Gurman, Apple will launch a low-end 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, high-end 14-inch and 16-inch M4 MacBook Pro models, an upgraded Mac Mini, an upgraded M4 iMac, and a refreshed iPad Mini. There might not be a new standard iPad for those expecting one.
Furthermore, the journalist revealed what we can expect from Apple in the first half of 2025. There are two new 13-inch and 15-inch M4 MacBook Air laptops, a redesigned iPhone SE, updated iPad Air models with new Magic Keyboards, and an upgraded AirTag.
Apple is also working on M4-powered Mac Studio and Mac Pro models, but these “may take longer to arrive.” It is expected that the former will launch in mid-2025, while the latter will be available later. During the second half of 2025, Bloomberg says we can expect new iPhone 17 models, Apple Watch models, and M5 Macs.
Apple Intelligence OTA:
Despite the much-hyped Apple Intelligence AI features not being available at launch, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series last month. AI features are expected to launch next month, but the company did not specify a date. The day has been revealed by a reliable source.
On Monday, October 28, Bloomberg Mark Gurman confirmed that Apple Intelligence features will be released together with iOS 18.1.
The sources quoted by Gurman claim that Apple is taking its time with this release to iron out any bugs and to ensure that the cloud servers will be able to handle the amount of traffic expected.
As part of its roadmap, Apple previously stated that additional Intelligence features would arrive later in 2024 and in “the months following”. Besides Genmojis and ChatGPT integration, Gurman noted that iOS 18.2 will support AI features such as Genmoji functionality and ChatGPT integration, while iOS 18.4 will launch with an upgraded Siri.
