The M4 MacBook Pros were the most anticipated addition to Apple’s “week of Mac.” Both are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and boast three chipset options – M4, M4 Pro, which debuted with the new Mac mini, and an M4 Max for those who take their workflow to the absolute limit.

Apple’s new MacBook Pros have a 3,024 x 1,964-pixel resolution on the 14-inch model and 3,456 x 2,234-pixel resolution on the 16-inch model. They are equipped with the same Liquid Retina XDR display. The panels cover the P3 colour gamut and are 120Hz ProMotion panels with True Tone.
With Apple’s new nano-texture option (like the 2024 iPad Pros), panels can achieve 1,600 nits in HDR and 1,000 nits in SDR. With the new 12MP selfie cam with Center Stage, you’ll stay in the frame even if you move around.
It is claimed that Apple’s new M4 Pro and M4 Max feature faster GPU cores, a 2x faster ray-tracing engine, and a 2x faster neural engine compared to its previous M3 models. Apple’s new M4 Max chip offers up to 16 CPU cores and up to 40 GPU cores paired with up to 128GB of unified memory for users who push their workflow to the limit. Compared with the M1 Max, Apple claims the M4 Max offers 3.5 times the performance.
Similar I/O options exist on the baseline 14-inch Pro, but you now have a third Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port. On the right side, you’ll find the same MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports (Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro and Max models), and a headphone jack. Additionally, there is an SDXC card slot and a third Thunderbolt 4/5 port on the opposite side. The device is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity.
MacBook Pro 14-inch models come with 72.4Wh batteries and 70W (M4) or 96W (M4 Pro/Max) power adapters. There is a 100Wh cell and a 140W USB-C power adapter included with the 16-inch model. According to Apple, its M4 model offers up to 24 hours of battery life. The M4 Max can last up to 18 hours.
