Qualcomm has yet to release its 2024 flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but a cut-down version has already been circulating. A few days ago, Gizmochina spotted the chipset with the model number “SM8735” in Xiaomi’s HyperOS software. Yogesh Brar, an X tipster, suggests the chipset might launch in Q1 2025.

Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset could be named ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite,’ according to previous rumours. The tipster expects the current naming scheme to remain unchanged. In his tweet, he also mentioned SM8775, the model number for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 processor. No confirmation has yet been made, however.

In March, Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 which is a slightly downclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Although Qualcomm hasn’t revealed much about the new chipset, it’s likely the new chip will be similar to last year’s ‘s’ chip, which features a smaller footprint and less cache memory. Despite this, it retains the same CPU and GPU cores as the flagship chipset.

According to rumors, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 will be more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and therefore the presence of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is reasonable.

Performance-centric devices could be launched using the ‘s’ chipset, while still offering good performance for handling heavy titles.
