An open-air earbud is indeed Nothing’s next entry into the earbud market. The design of TWS has now been revealed in a report by WinFuture.

Nothing Ear (Open) is the company’s first open-ear buds, set for launch tomorrow – September 24th. Design-wise, they differ slightly from the company’s previous offerings.

According to the leaked images, the open-ear design is familiar. A wraparound band is presumably behind the ear, while the speaker is positioned to deliver optimal sound – rumoured to be a 14.2mm driver.  The design is similar to what we’ve seen from SoundCore and JBL.

The leak suggests that the earbuds offer 8 hours of playback on a single charge. With the charging case, that figure jumps to 30 hours.

This is a slight downgrade from Nothing Ear 2. There is a playback time of up to 36 hours on these devices.

It’s unlikely that the new Nothing TWS will be ANC-enabled due to its open-ear design. Due to their location outside or partially inside the ear canal, open-ear earbuds leave the ear canal open. It allows ambient sound to enter freely.

For the case of the buds, the images show a thin but wide design. Additional details are also revealed in the leak. The buds weigh just 8.1 grams, and both the buds and the case are splash-proof to IP54 standards.

In addition, ChatGPT is still supported when paired with a Nothing Phone. A “Bass Enhance” mode is also mentioned in the leak, which might appeal to bass lovers.

There is no word yet on the price of the earbuds. It won’t be long before the launch tomorrow.
