Ahead of IFA 2024, Intel announced its Core Ultra 200V series processors on Tuesday. The new Lunar Lake x86 processors succeed the first-gen Meteor Lake chips announced late last year. It significantly improves graphics performance, application compatibility, security, and AI computing over its predecessor. From September 24th, Intel Core Ultra 200V-powered laptops from Acer, ASUS, Dell, Samsung, MSI, HP, Lenovo, and LG will be available worldwide.
Intel’s Core Ultra 200V processors are designed to be 30 percent faster than their predecessors and consume 50 percent less power. Meteor Lake’s 2x Crestmont architecture has been upgraded to a 4x Skymont E-core cluster to improve performance.
Taking into account CPU, GPU, and NPU, Intel’s new Lunar Lake processors can deliver 120 total TOPS (tera operations per second). This 4th generation NPU is 4x more powerful than the previous generation and is ideal for sustained AI workloads.
With an Intel Arc GPU, you get eight new 2nd Gen X-cores, eight enhanced ray tracing units, support for up to three 4K monitors, and a new AI engine with 67 TOPS to power creative applications.
As a result of the incorporation of artificial intelligence into Intel Core Ultra, PCs powered by the new Lunar Lake processor can take full advantage of what AI has to offer in areas like gaming, content creation, and security.
The Lunar Lake 8-core 8-thread processors deliver up to 3x more performance than the Meteor Lake 12-core 14-thread processors.
