Similarly, HMD has embraced the Lumia design language for its recent batch of phones, starting with the Skyline. One of the best Lumias was the Lumia 1020, thanks to the 41MP sensor on the circular camera island.
HMD appears to be using that design for an unnamed upcoming model. The leaked silhouette below shows that the circular island contains four lenses (and an LED flash).
Unlike the Skyline, this isn’t the HMD Hyper, which has a rectangular island in the upper left corner. Also, it isn’t the other similar-looking HMD phone that leaked recently. This will likely be at the upper end of the price spectrum, while the Hyper appears to be a lower mid-range device.
The Skyline was HMD’s most ambitious phone in terms of camera yet, and the first with a triple camera (not counting phones with macro modules). HMD’s first quad-camera phone should be this 1020 lookalike.
Even though the Skyline has solid hardware with 108+50+13MP, there are some areas in which it falls short. This camera, however, isn’t as good as the camera on the flagship Lumias. It will take years for HMD to challenge the current camera kings, despite the quality image processing that defined the Lumias (and PureView before them).
