A new leak from tipster Smart Pikachu suggests that Vivo and Oppo are developing foldable phones. Vivo’s next-generation foldable phone is the first to be rumoured after Oppo’s Find N5 series of foldables emerged last month.

Oppo’s foldable phone, most likely the Find N5 and the Vivo X Fold 4, will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, making them among the first foldable phones to use it. Their successors will likely retain the round camera module design of their predecessors, the Find N3 and the Vivo X Fold 3.

In China, the Oppo Find N5 and Vivo X Fold 4 are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025. There was no further information about these foldables provided by the leaker.

Vivo announced the X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro this year, which are equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8 Gen 3 chipsets, respectively. The X Fold 3 Pro was released globally while the X Fold 3 remained exclusive to China. It is unclear whether the Vivo X Fold 4 series will include two models, such as the X Fold 4 and X Fold 4 Pro. Due to Chinese superstitions associated with the number “4”, it’s unclear if the upcoming model will be called Vivo X Fold 4 or X Fold 5.
