MacRumors obtained confidential information indicating that Apple is likely to announce new Macs with M4 chips in November.
Apple is expected to release new Mac models in November 2024, according to a reliable source. The upcoming M4 Macs are the first Macs to be launched in a specific month, compared to the usual end-of-year release date.
Apple might announce the new machines in October, so this does not exclude the possibility. The “Scary Fast” event was announced by Apple last Tuesday, October 23. The company announced new MacBook Pro and iMac models with M3 chips on Monday, October 30. We may see a similar series of events this year as these new machines launch on Tuesday, November 7.
Apple is rumoured to release four new Mac models with M4 chips before the end of the year: a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip as an entry-level model, a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, an iMac with the M4 chip, and a completely redesigned Mac mini. Unless the new Mac mini is included, these devices are expected to be minor refreshes focusing on chip upgrades, but they might come with 16GB of memory as standard for the first time. It is believed that some of these machines will be released in November.
Mac Mini with M4 Pro SoC:
Mac minis with the M2 chip have two USB-C ports, as opposed to four USB-C ports on the M2 Pro. Gurman explained in his latest “Power On” newsletter that the new Mac mini with the M4 Pro chip will have five USB-C ports but no USB-A ports. Like the Mac Studio, the machine will have three USB-C ports on the back and two on the front. In addition to Ethernet, HDMI, and 3.5mm audio ports, there will be a USB port as well. It appears that the power supply will remain internal.
The next-generation Mac mini with the M4 and M4 Pro chips will feature the first major design change since 2010. Despite being slightly taller than the current model, the new Mac mini appears to approach the size of an Apple TV. An aluminium shell will remain on the device. The new device is reportedly “essentially an iPad Pro in a small box,” according to those working on it.
China’s suppliers will begin shipping the new Mac mini models with the M4 chip in early September, according to Gurman. There will be no shipping of the M4 Pro until October.
