After seeing some supposedly live images of the new Pixel 9a, we got some information about its chip. The Pixel 9a may use the Tensor G4, but it may use an older modem.
Since the Pixel 5a, this will be the first Pixel phone without a camera visor. There’s nothing at all resembling a Pixel phone about it. We doubt that these images are real because of this. We won’t see this phone for about nine months if Google launches it as usual.
All Pixel 9 phones come with the new Tensor G4 SoC. Google’s most recent and smartest chip. You can get some fast internet speed depending on your carrier, too. It gives them some impressive AI chops.
If the Pixel 9a comes out, it might not have as fast an internet connection as the Pixel 9. Samsung’s Exynos 5400 modem is included with the Tensor G4. Its predecessor, the Tensor G3, featured an Exynos 5300 processor.
It is reported that the Pixel 9a will have the older Exynos 5300 modem with the Tensor G4. It would be a shame if the Pixel 9a were to be a flagship phone. To keep the price down, this phone will come with the usual hardware compromises.
Taking this news with caution should be obvious to you. The information we have is very early, so it’s impossible to predict whether or not some changes will occur between now and launch day.
