As part of the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are expected to launch later this year. The popular tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the Ultra model is expected to launch early next year with an advanced camera system.

DCS reports Xiaomi is testing two configurations of its 15 Ultra. One features a quad-camera system that features a 200MP periscope telephoto lens based on Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 sensor, launched in June. This sensor is also used in the Vivo X100 Ultra. According to tipster Ice Universe, the Ultra model will also have a quad-camera setup and a 200MP sensor.

HP9 has an optical format of 1/1.4 inches and 200 million pixels, each measuring 0.56 micrometres. With such a high pixel density, it is possible to capture detailed images. By combining pixels in a tetra-pixel configuration, it becomes a 12MP sensor with larger 2.24-micrometer pixels, which enhances the bokeh effect and low-light photography by capturing more light.

A remosaic algorithm is used in the HP9 sensor to provide 2x or 4x in-sensor zooming. With the 3x optical zoom telephoto module, it can achieve up to 12x zoom without sacrificing quality.
