After Samsung and Google launched their big phones, it’s now Apple’s turn. Various leaks and rumours have given us a lot of information about the iPhone 16, including its design and Apple Intelligence features. Even though we know a few things about the cameras, the information isn’t as comprehensive as everything else we know. It has now changed after a massive leak revealed new details about the cameras.

According to Apple Insider, the iPhone 16 series has different cameras for each model. According to the new report, the smaller Pro model will have a tetraprism zoom lens, and the ultrawide lens will be upgraded to 48MP on both Pro models, all of which we were aware of already.

Camera Specs:

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus appear to retain the iPhone 15’s 48MP camera with an f/1.6 aperture starting with the primary camera. With this camera, you can zoom up to 1X and 2X, and get an optical quality telephoto zoom up to 2X. As for the secondary camera, it now has an aperture of f/2.2 instead of f/2.4, which should result in more light hitting the sensor. For the first time, these models will be able to take macro photos.

For the Pro models, the primary sensor remains 48MP with an f/1.78 aperture. With 1.22-micrometer pixels, the camera will be able to take 12MP telephoto shots that are 2X optical-quality. In addition to the tetraprism zoom on the smaller Pro, the telephoto lens is also said to be the same 12MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.8. The 48MP ultrawide will also be pixel-binned, as is the primary camera. A quad-pixel ultrawide will have 1.4-micrometer pixels when used as a full-resolution picture and .7 micrometre pixels when used as a full-resolution picture.

Users will be able to take 48MP ProRaw photos with the new ultrawide camera. According to reports, a new image format is expected to be added to the current list. Along with HEIF, JPEG, HEIF Max, ProRaw, and ProRAW Max, JPEG-XL will be added to the list of image formats.

The report also claims that the Pro Models will be able to shoot in 3K at 120FPS and with Dolby Vision. In addition to 1080p at 120FPS or 240FPS, these handsets could also record 4K at 60FPS.

Capture Button features:

There is no doubt that some of the most interesting information from this leak relates to the capture button. Users will be able to choose which app the Capture Button opens, whether it’s first-party or third-party.

This Capture Button is capacitive, capable of registering both half presses and full presses. Developer APIs will be used to customize force sensitivity. By sliding your finger across the button, you can zoom in and out and perform other actions. You could also use this gesture to scroll through filters after taking a photo since the function is tied to a developer API.
