According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has begun testing four new Mac models with M4 chips. In October, Apple may unveil new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac models with M4 chips.

According to developer logs, the four machines have M4 chips. On three of the Macs, there are 10 cores and 10 GPUs. Unlike other M4 configurations we’ve seen so far, the fourth machine has an eight-core CPU and eight-core GPU. There are either 16GB or 32GB of Unified Memory in all four M4 Macs.

Apple’s iPad Pro models with 256GB and 512GB have an M4 chip with 6 cores and a GPU with 8 cores, while those with 1TB and 2TB have an M4 with 10 cores. Some Mac models will use the same chip as the high-end iPad.

As for the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, Gurman does not mention them, as they would be installed in higher-end Mac minis, 14-inch MacBook Pros, and 16-inch MacBook Pros. The M4 Pro and M4 Max chips would have more CPU and GPU cores, as well as more memory.

The developer logs do not indicate if Apple is only introducing lower-end models with the standard M4 chip or if Apple has plans for M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max models.

Both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to get a refresh, and Gurman previously said the new, slimmer Mac mini will be available with both M4 and M4 Pro chips.
