Several different products have been tested by Apple’s Vision team since last year’s launch of Apple Vision Pro, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. Apple Vision Pro second generation, a cheaper Apple Vision headset, and a Smart Glasses version are included in these new products.

Apple Vision series:

In February 2024, Apple Vision Pro will begin shipping to consumers, as announced in last year’s WWDC keynote. It’s quite impressive technically, but no one is interested in spending $3499 for a mixed reality headset, even though it was highly anticipated.

Apple is not demotivated by the slowing sales – according to Gurman, the company still plans to ship a cheaper Apple Vision headset by the end of next year. As for the second generation of Apple Vision Pro, the release date is unknown, but Apple is continuing to work on it.

Gurman remains sceptical about whether Apple Vision headsets will become more popular as a result of this cheaper model since it’s unclear how Apple will reduce costs.

Apple Smart Glass:

Furthermore, Gurman says the Vision group is still experimenting with Smart Glasses without displays, similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses.

Originally reported in February, Gurman seems committed to the product. It’ll likely be a while before we see a true “Apple Glass” product that many of us have envisioned for years, according to Liao.
