As far as GoPro’s flagship action camera is concerned, it seems to stick to its yearly release schedule. Amazon has taken down the Hero 13 Black listing (via TechStoriesIndia), which extensively leaked the next-generation camera.

According to the listing, the new action camera will be released on September 16th.

Amazon’s listing shows that the Hero 13 Black closely resembles its predecessor, the Hero 12 Black. Rather than making significant hardware upgrades, this time the emphasis appears to be on expanding accessory options.

A new Macro Lens Mod is expected to offer 3x magnification. The Ultra Wide Lens Mod will also extend the field of view to 177 degrees, according to reports.

Even though these lens attachments target specific shooting scenarios, details about the Hero 13 Black’s core camera remain unclear. No information has been released on possible sensor improvements, frame rate capabilities, or other internal upgrades.

Besides lens mods, GoPro is reportedly introducing new mounting solutions like the Magnetic Latch and Magnetic Latch Ball Joint. In addition to the Floaty handgrip and Protective Sleeve, these accessories will be available.

It is also possible that a successor to the Hero 11 Black Mini is on the way, although details about this camera are scarce.

Some action camera enthusiasts might be disappointed by GoPro’s iterative approach. There is no core hardware improvement in the Hero 13 Black, making it a less attractive upgrade for those who own a Hero12 Black already.
