There haven’t been many significant changes to Samsung’s One UI interface over the past three years. The One UI 6.0 update last year mainly focused on the Quick Panel layout. One UI 7.0, based on Android 15, is expected to get a major design overhaul, according to a recent leak.

Ice Universe, a reliable tipster, claims that One UI 7.0 will introduce a completely new user interface. The tipster said it may be the most significant update in One UI history.” It is also expected to include new app icons, a departure from Samsung’s usual approach to design.

Samsung has a history of sticking with its icon designs for long periods, typically updating them every five years. A new icon design language along with a broader UI overhaul would solidify One UI 7.0 as a major update. One UI 7.0 may also feature a vertical app drawer, though this has not been confirmed.

A beta program is expected to begin within the next two months as part of the rollout strategy. Initial testing will take place on the Galaxy S24 series. Later this month, the beta program may be extended to older high-end devices like the Galaxy S23 series.

One UI 7.0 is likely to arrive in October or November according to Samsung’s update cadence. A new update could be released before the end of 2024 for high-end and mid-range devices, including foldables. The update might not be available to entry-level and some mid-range phones until the first quarter of 2025.

Despite the lack of details, Samsung is likely to push further into its AI capabilities. If there is any new information regarding One UI 7.0, we will keep you posted.
