We’ve just learned the battery capacity for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it’s not what we’d hoped for.
Ice Universe says the battery on the S25 Ultra will be the same as the S24 Ultra’s at 5,000mAh. Even the maximum charging power stays at 45W.
According to reports, the device will have a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 3x zoom lens, and a 5x periscope telephoto lens. Although there is still uncertainty about the fourth lens and whether Samsung will increase the megapixel count for its zoom lenses, this setup is similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
It appears that some things will remain the same on the inside of the S25 Ultra even though it is expected to sport a major redesign. Is this a move you approve of?
Some of Samsung’s Chinese competitors are starting to outfit their flagships with bigger batteries, and rumours suggest the next batch will go even further – around 6,000mAh, in fact. Because of this, the S25 Ultra might look a little undercooked when it arrives in January.
As a final point, let me add some context: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, which will power most Android flagships in 2025, is well-known for its power consumption. That could very well explain why Chinese companies are putting bigger cells in their devices.
By rounding the corners of the S25 Ultra, Samsung will perhaps make it safer for the palm of your hand, but it might also be less battery-efficient than its main Android competitors.
