Nothing launched its first smartphone under the affordable CMF brand today. The CMF Phone 1 features a user-swappable back panel and a Mediatek 7300 processor.

The new CMF Phone 1 will sport a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The CMF Phone 1 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage. A multifunctional rotating crown on the right can be used to control volume, camera functions, media, etc.
The new CMF Phone 1 will feature a 50MP Samsung GN9 (f/1.8) main sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor with LED flash. There is a 16MP selfie shooter under the punch-hole notch. It packs a 5000 mAh battery with 33W fast charge support.
The CMF Phone (1) will run on Android 14 OS with Nothing OS 2.6 on top. Sadly, no charger is included in the retail package. The device also gets IP54 certified making it splashproof. The brand is also promising 3 years of major Android OS updates with 4 years of Security patches.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 5G, Dual 4G LTE and VoLTE support, and Wifi 6. Further A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C port, FM Radio, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Only dripping water is guaranteed to withstand the IPX2 certification, which isn’t much. Despite this, nothing says it could withstand being submerged in 25 cm of water for 3 seconds.
In the CMF lineup, design is everything, and Phone 1 is no exception. Several accessories can be attached to the back panel via a mounting point. Furthermore, the panel is easily replaceable, so you can change the colour of your phone, or get a new one if it gets damaged.
As a result of the removable panel, other repairs are also possible, potentially extending the phone’s lifespan.
