Although three Motorola Edge 50 variants are already available, there isn’t a vanilla model. Motorola India and Flipkart will introduce the Motorola Edge 50 next week.

Launching on August 1 (next Thursday), the phone will be available on Motorola’s online store, Flipkart, and leading retailers. On Flipkart’s landing page, you can see what the phone looks like.

Moto Edge 50 features a 6.67″ curved P-OLED display on its front. According to the specification, the resolution is “1.5K”, which is presumably the same or very close to the Fusion’s 1,220 x 2,712 pixels. The panel is 10-bit with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and can reach 1,900 nits of brightness. Additionally, a fingerprint reader is built in.

According to Motorola, this is the “world’s slimmest MIL-STD-810H military-grade certified” phone, but we haven’t seen its thickness yet. It has been tested for drops, vibrations, extreme temperatures (both high and low), and salt fog. The device also has an IP68 rating and a metal frame.

It will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which is a step back from the 7S Gen 2 found inside the Edge 50 Fusion. Previously, the 7 Gen 1 was used on the Razr 40 foldable. There will be 256GB of storage and a vapour chamber to keep the chipset cool.

It will use a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C sensor, which is also used in the Fusion. This model also has a 10MP telephoto camera with “30x zoom”, which we assume means 3x optical zoom. Additionally, there is a 13MP 120° ultra-wide camera that appears to be capable of macro shots. Finally, a selfie camera with 32MP.

In addition to three years of OS updates, Motorola promises four years of security patches for the Edge 50. The 5,000mAh battery supports both fast wired charging at 68W and wireless charging at 15W. It’s an improvement over the Fusion, which lacks wireless. It’s not the only upgrade either.

There are three colours available for the Motorola Edge 50. Jungle Green and Pantone Peach Fuzz have vegan leather backs, while Koala Grey has vegan suede backs.
