New camera hardware, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and a lot more are all included in the Google Pixel 9 series. It has also been rumoured that Google’s next phones will feature displays based on Samsung’s M14 OLED technology, possibly making them some of the best smartphones on the market.
We now have a preview of these upcoming Pixel 9 display changes thanks to a source inside Google.
Samsung M14 is rumoured to be used in the display of the new Pixel 9 series. M14 is Samsung’s latest version of OLED technology, which continues to evolve with new materials being introduced by manufacturers. It has been reported by ET News that the M14 will provide better brightness and durability. The new panel is coming to the Pixel 9 series and iPhone 16 Pro, while the Galaxy S24 uses the last-generation M13.
With 1,800 nits of display brightness, Google’s Pixel 9 baseline is better than its predecessor. Additionally, both (non-folding) Pro Pixels will feature 2,050-nit displays, making them some of the brightest phones available. Since Google provides HDR values for full-screen brightness, localized peak brightness values will be even higher.
The Pixel 9 will sport a slightly larger 6.24-inch (1,080 x 2,424p) FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 9 Pro comes with a 6.34-inch (1,280 x 2,856p) QHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a larger display than the Pixel 9 Pro, measuring 6.73 inches. The compact premium flagship model you’ve been waiting for is finally here. The new Pixels’ display specs are largely the same as those of their predecessors. Panels still support up to 120Hz refresh rates, the resolutions are virtually identical, and the corner radius is only slightly larger.
