A powerful global agreement has been signed between OPPO and Ericsson, which covers patent cross-licensing for 5G technologies, as well as various business collaborations, further establishing their leadership in tech.

OPPO announced today it has signed a global cooperation agreement with Ericsson. It includes patent cross-licenses, technical cooperation, market expansion, and other collaborations. Standard-essential patents (SEPs) related to cellular communication technologies, including 5G, are covered under the global cross-license.

OPPO invested in research and development almost 20 years ago, deepened its cultivation in key fields, and transformed innovations into high-value intellectual property and leading user experiences.

According to OPPO, more than 103,000 patent applications have been filed worldwide, more than 57,000 patents have been granted, and 91% of all patent applications are utility patents. In 2023, OPPO ranked ninth globally in patent applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), its fifth consecutive year in the top ten.

OPPO is a world leader in smart device innovation, a major holder of 5G SEPs, and both an innovator and implementer of technology standards. In the industry, OPPO actively promotes the use of technology standards.OPPO has filed over 6,200 patent applications for 5G communication standards across more than 40 countries and regions as of June 30, 2024. Over 3,700 5G families have been declared to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and over 12,000 standard documents have been submitted to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
