The next generation of Apple’s budget-friendly iPhone SE line is expected in 2025. The upcoming phone has already been leaked quite a bit, although it’s still quite far away. LG Display may be joining as a second supplier of OLED screens for the upcoming iPhone SE, according to a new report from The Elec
According to reports, BOE is the first supplier of the iPhone SE 4’s display due to its lower panel costs. This isn’t the first time Apple has worked with BOE on iPhone models.
The SE 4 will, however, have BOE’s largest share of any iPhone. According to Elec, it will provide 60 to 70% of the screens – about 20 million units per year.
LG Display is rumoured to supply the rest of the OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4. Apple plans to use the iPhone 13’s display panel for the SE 4, but downgrade the display features.
LG Display supplies panels for the iPhone 13s, for those who are unaware. Apple will save money by reusing this panel and the manufacturer will simplify production.
The iPhone SE 4 will feature a 6.06-inch display, while the iPhone 13 has a 6.1-inch display. LG Display may need to adjust the panel to fit the SE 4 if The Elec’s report is accurate.
Tianma has also expressed interest in supplying displays for the iPhone SE 4. At this point, it is unlikely they will be part of the supply chain because their technology is less advanced than BOE’s.
