Apple’s next major smartphone refresh is expected in September 2024 with the iPhone 16 series. Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup is already generating rumours, and today’s leak offers some intriguing details.

According to Ice Universe on Weibo, the iPhone 17 series will include four models, but with a twist – the iPhone 17 Slim will replace the iPhone 17 Plus. There will be the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the new 17 Slim in the lineup.

Standard iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models will feature a 6.27-inch screen, while Slim and Pro Max versions will feature 6.65-inch and 6.86-inch screens. All iPhone 17 models support 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate and LTPO technology.

There will also be improvements to the cameras, especially for the Pro models. Rumours suggest that the cameras will have three 48MP cameras, as well as time-of-flight sensors and primary, telephoto, and ultra-wide lenses.

The camera setup for the standard iPhone 17 and 17 Slim is scarce, but the base model is expected to feature dual cameras.

Apple’s iPhone 17 and 17 Slim should be powered by its A19 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 17 Pro will be powered by the more powerful A19 Pro, built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process. Qualcomm Snapdragon modems will be used throughout the lineup for cellular connectivity.

The standard models have an aluminium frame, while the Pro models have a titanium frame. Other notable features include a universal USB-C port and Face ID.

Pricing:

The iPhone 17 is expected to start at $799, while the iPhone 17 Slim may cost around $1299, making it the most expensive model. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to cost $1099 and $1199, respectively.

The leak also mentions the launch of the iPhone 17 series in September 2025. These leaks should be approached with caution because details about devices this far out are subject to change.
