The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim or Ultra is the name rumored to be the next addition to Samsung’s foldable line. Ice Universe, usually a reliable leaker, has shed some light on the issue.
On Weibo, the tipster revealed that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, not an “Ultra”. Weibo’s post simply states: “It’s not Ultra because it’s not Ultra, it’s just thin.” This implies that the Fold 6 Slim will not have upgraded specs over the standard Fold 6. There is a thinner version that appears to be solely designed for portability.
A user’s comment regarding the Slim’s configuration was confirmed by Ice Universe. It has been clarified by the tipster that there will be no downgrade or upgrade.
In exchange for a slimmer design, S Pen support appears to be sacrificed. When responding to another user’s comment, Ice Universe confirmed that Fold 6 Slim will not work with the S Pen. In order to make this foldable thinner, Samsung has ditched the digitizer needed for pen input. Therefore, this model does not feature a S Pen.
Ice Universe expects the Fold6 Slim will cost more than the standard Fold6 even without any upgrades or S Pen support.
Neither the Galaxy Z Fold6 nor Flip6 have been officially confirmed by Samsung, but these devices are expected to be unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 10.
