According to Samsung, Galaxy AI will soon be available on its next generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. Early in July, these are expected to become official.
According to Samsung EVP & Head of Mobile R&D Office, Mobile eXperience Business Won-Joon Choi’s blog post today, the company plans to further optimize its Galaxy AI experience for foldable devices in the future. In his words, “Our foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factor in Samsung Galaxy, and when combined with Galaxy AI, they will open up a world of possibilities”.
Using a hybrid AI approach, Samsung hopes to redefine mobile experiences, which it believes is “the most practical and reliable solution” to meet consumer needs and “put Samsung ahead of the curve.”. Through open collaborations with industry-leading partners, the hybrid thing offers users “a balance between the instant responsiveness and privacy assurances of on-device AI and the versatility of cloud-based AI to provide a variety of daily functions”.
The Live Translate AI feature will soon be available in third-party message apps so that voice calls can be made. With Samsung’s on-device AI language translation model, your personal data won’t be shared outside of your phone when using Live Translate, so you won’t have to worry about privacy issues.
In the next few years, Choi expects mobile AI features to become more and more embedded in devices as NPUs continue to advance at a blazing pace.
