Today in China, Lenovo, Motorola’s parent company, launched the new Razr 50 foldable series and a bunch of other products.
Among this year’s Razr lineup are two phones – the flagship Razr 50 Ultra with a 4″ cover screen and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, and the cheaper Razr 50 with Dimensity 7300X.
Design:
It appears that the Razr 50 5G colors are grey and khaki based on the renders. The Razr 50 Ultra is expected to come in Peach Fuzz, Green and Blue.
Both phones’ cover screens appear to have separate cutouts for the camera lenses. It’s just the camera rings and there’s no enclosure. On the Ultra model, the cover screen is larger. The bezels appear to be slimmer as well.
A thick band covers the Razr 50’s cover screen in tent mode. On its main screen, the Razr 50 appears to have a narrower bezel.
Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra:
The Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra comes with a 6.69″ FHD+ AMOLED LTPO display with a resolution of 2640×1080 pixels and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a whopping 165Hz refresh rate support & Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top. Now the Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra display slides back into the frame to avoid damage when you fold the device. Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra packs the same 4″ (1056×1066 pixels) POLED outer display.
The hinge components were reduced to 85 parts to increase longevity and endurance. Content can be captured from multiple angles with the phone propped up on its back.
The new Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra is powered by SD 8s Gen 3 SoC coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage. The new Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra features a 50MP outer camera with an aperture of f/1.88 with OIS coupled with a 50MP telephoto sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 2x optical zoom. There is a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40 selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. One can use the outer display to click the selfie which was missing from the predecessor.
In addition, the Razr 50 Ultra will be Motorola’s first clamshell foldable with AI-powered photo and video capture. Despite the small print, the Razr is IPX8 water-resistant, a first for Razr devices.
The device comes with Dual SIM support with 5G, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.3, WLAN, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and IPX8 certification. The Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra 5G packs a lower 4000 mAh battery with a 45W fast charger & 15W wireless charging support. Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra runs on Android 14 OS.
Motorola RAZR 50:
The Motorola RAZR 50 comes with a 6.9-inch POLED HDR display with a resolution of 2640×1080 pixels and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It comes with 120Hz refresh rate support & Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top. Motorola RAZR 50 also includes a secondary screen of 3.63” (194×368 pixels) POLED display which is perfect for showing notifications.
The new Motorola RAZR 50 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300x SoC coupled with 8GB/12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage. The new Motorola RAZR 50 features a 50MP outer main camera with an aperture of f/1.88 with OIS coupled with a 13MP SK Hynix Hi1336 ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. There is a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40 selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture.
The device comes with Dual SIM support with 5G, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.4, WLAN, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and IP52 certification. The Motorola RAZR 50 5G packs a lower 4200 mAh battery with a 30W fast wired & 15W wireless charging. Motorola RAZR 50 runs on Android 14 OS.
Pricing:
In China, the Razr 50 Ultra is already available in three Pantone colours – Dill, Navy Blazer, and Peach Fuzz. The Razr 50 Ultra with 12GB/256GB costs 5699 Yuan (Rs.65,500/-) and 12GB/512GB at 6199 Yuan (Rs.71,300/-).
All three Razr 50 colours feature vegan leather panels and are available in Steel Wool, Pumice Stone, and Arabesque. The Razr 50 with 8GB/256GB costs 3699 Yuan (Rs.42,500/-) and 12GB/512GB at 3999 Yuan (Rs.46,000/-).
Motorola Razr 50 Ultra/Motorola Razr+ (2024) is available in Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, and Hot Pink colours. The 12/512GB model is available for €1,200 in Europe and select LATAM countries. The US version will go on sale July 24 for $999 and be available for pre-order on July 10.
Motorola Razr 50/Motorola Razr (2024) comes in Beach Sand, Koala Grey, and Spritz Orange. The pre-order will open on July 10 for $700, and it will ship on July 24. It will be available to buyers in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific at some point.
