With its Skyline series, HMD Global, the company behind the current Nokia phones, appears to be reviving the Lumia name in spirit.

HMD is working on a new phone called the Skyline, according to leaks earlier this month. We’ve seen renderings that suggest the Skyline’s design will resemble that of the classic Nokia Lumia series. We may have been wrong about Skyline’s story after all.

HMD is developing another Skyline device, dubbed the HMD Skyline G2, according to leaker @smashx_60.

The second Skyline may be a direct successor to the first or may be a separate device. Since the first Skyline has not been officially announced yet, the G2’s launch seems a long way off.

Like the first Skyline, the G2 is rumoured to come with a triple-camera system on the back. There are four possible camera configurations, one of which even includes a 200MP main camera.

HMD will reportedly target the G2 towards mobile photography enthusiasts, which is why all the setups include telephoto, ultrawide, and Time of Flight (ToF) sensors.

The bezels appear to be the most noticeable difference between the two Skylines. It appeared that the phone had a prominent chin and relatively thin bezels on the sides and top. On the other hand, the G2 is said to have thick bezels on both sides, giving it a more dated appearance.

G2 specifications and pricing are scarcer than the original Skyline leak.
