Apple will host one of the world’s most awaited technological events later this year. At the September launch event, Apple will unveil the iPhone 16 lineup, including the regular and Pro models, and Apple Watch Series 10. Recent tips indicate that the company will be going for larger screens for its 2024 smartwatches, according to a reliable industry source.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, has shared a list of improvements and upgrades for Series 10. Series 10 will have a larger screen than the Series 9 or Series 8 (which had similar designs). There will be two screen sizes available, 45mm and 49mm, instead of 41mm and 45mm.
The sizes represent the height of the device, but Apple Watches have thinner bezels, suggesting a larger display. Accordingly, the smallest model of the Watch Series 10 will have the same form factor as the largest model of the Watch Series 9. Watch Series 10 will be larger than Watch Ultra, however.
A trend has been started by Apple with the M4 iPad Pro, which is thinner and lighter than other premium tablets in the category. Apple’s Watch Series 10 is expected to follow suit, making it the thinnest smartwatch available. The company doesn’t seem to be making any efforts to make the Watch Ultra thinner.
According to Kuo, the Watch Ultra model will “remain roughly the same.” Apple may also introduce a new case color, either black or dark gray, if the manufacturers can meet the yield expectations. The analyst did not mention it, but we think the dark titanium casing will make its way into final production later this year.
In addition to providing more details about the assembly line, Kuo mentions that the Apple Watch will include more 3D-printed parts in 2H24. A BLT supplier is also mentioned.
