Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is many, many months away from its launch, and yet a new rumor has surfaced about it. On X, a tipster claimed that the S25 Ultra would have three rear cameras, not four.
One of the cameras that will be dropped is said to be the 10 MP 3x optical zoom telephoto. Samsung will instead try to convince us that the main camera on the S25 Ultra can capture 3x zoom images as well as a dedicated unit, if not better.
As a result, the main camera’s image processing will apparently be improved. In addition to its resolution and sensor size, the S25 Ultra’s main camera is rumored to have improved light capturing abilities compared to the S24 Ultra. There has been no change to the ultrawide, at least at this prototyping stage.
It appears that the S25 Ultra periscope zoom camera is being tested with a variable zoom with two fixed focal lengths, the first 4x and 5x and the second 6x and 7x. Unlike the Sony Xperia 1 V, Samsung hasn’t yet decided on which exact focal lengths to go with, but there will be two options.
