Fans of OnePlus might be disappointed by next-generation devices from Samsung, Motorola, and others while the foldable phone market continues to heat up. The OnePlus Open 2 won’t be released this year, according to reliable tipsters.

OnePlus Open 2, the follow-up to the well-received first-generation device, will launch in 2025. As a disappointment to those who were looking forward to a 2024 release, the Open 2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.

Official announcements of the 8 Gen 4 are likely to happen later this year (October-November 2024). China might see the first phones with this chip as early as December.

Most Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 devices will launch globally in the next few months. It is unclear whether the Open 2 falls into this category.

OnePlus Open 2 has very little concrete information at this point. Details are likely to remain scarce for some time. Oppo’s foldable phones have traditionally been rebranded by OnePlus for the global market. As a result, the Open 2 will likely be the rebrand of the Oppo Find N5, just like the original Open mirrored the Oppo Find N3 last year.
