The Pixel 8a, Google’s latest A-series device and the most affordable Pixel 8 device, has finally been unveiled. With its updated design over its predecessor, the Pixel 8a is more in line with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The squared-off edges have been replaced by rounded corners. It has a smooth matte finish on the back and aluminum frame, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. It comes with IP67 dust and water resistance, and Google claims it’s the most durable phone in the A-series.
Specs:
The new Google Pixel 8a will sport 6.1-inch FHD+ 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED flat punch-hole display. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device also comes with HDR10+ support. When playing HDR content, the display can reach 1400 nits with a peak brightness of 2000 nits. It measures 8.7mm thick.
The new Google Pixel 8a is powered by the new Tensor G3 SoC which comes with a Titan M3 security chip. The phone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage options.
The Google Pixel 8a comes with a 64MP main Sony IMX787 sensor with f/1.7 aperture coupled with 13MP ultra-wide shooter with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Pixel 8a can shoot 4K videos at 60fps. The Pixel 8a comes with a 13MP selfie shooter.
Also included are astrophotography timelapse, 240fps slow motion, fusion video stabilization, Cinematic Pan, 5x digital zoom, and optical image stabilization on the main camera. The software features include Magic Editor, Best Take, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Face Unblur, Real Tone, Top Shot, Live HDR+ and Ultra HDR.
The new Pixel 8a also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner & Stereo speakers. The Pixel 8a packs a 4492 mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging also 5W wireless charging. It runs on the latest Android 14 OS out of the box. It also gets IP67 certified making it dust & water-resistant.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM, Wifi-6, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C port, NFC, Dual SIM with 4G LTE, and 5G with mmWave support.
As with all Pixel 8 devices, the Pixel 8a will receive seven years of OS, security, and feature updates. Google will also add Circle to Search, Pixel Call Assist, Audio Emoji, and Gemini to the phone.
You can choose from four colors to suit your style: Bay, Aloe, Porcelain, and Obsidian.
