As we previously reported, Apple may reveal a new iPad in early May. It appears that new iPads aren’t the only stars of the show.
9to5Mac discovered clues about a possible Apple Pencil 3 in the iPadOS 17.5 developer beta. What’s the big feature? You can add stuff like images, signatures, or text boxes to your notes or drawings by squeezing. With this new Pencil, pressure is not only detected on the tip but also on the entire body.
You might soon be able to track down your lost stylus thanks to the recent update to the Find My app, which now supports pairing with unreleased hardware, including the Pencil 3. The new iPadOS 17.4 also features a PencilKit API (an API that lets developers make apps Pencil-friendly). Despite the lack of details, rumors suggest the Pencil 3 will have features like interchangeable magnetic tips.
Bloomberg’s report confirms these rumors, predicting Apple’s iPad launch in May. Besides the tablets, there may also be a new Apple Pencil 3 and a redesigned Magic Keyboard at this event. For those who use their iPads for work, the Magic Keyboard may provide a more laptop-like experience.
