In the second quarter of this year, Sony could unveil its new flagship smartphone in the Xperia 1 line, which is no secret at this point. It is rumored that this model will come with three 48MP Exmor T sensors and that it will be called the Xperia 1 VI. A new leak on Weibo claims that might not be the case after all.
The Weibo post states that the Xperia 1 VI will feature a 48MP, f/1.9, 24mm, 1/1.35 camera, as well as a 12MP, f/2.2, 16mm, 1/2.5 ultra-wide camera and a 12MP, f/2.3, 85mm, f/2.8, 125mm, 1/3.5 telephoto camera. As with the Xperia 1 V, which debuted with the Exmor T sensor last year, this camera hardware appears to be identical.
Sony may opt for software improvement rather than hardware improvements if this is true, likely with the help of artificial intelligence. Even though the camera specs might remain the same, the design is very likely to change. Sony’s upcoming Xperia flagship will ditch the 21:9 aspect ratio and adopt a more mainstream design, according to recent reports. The upcoming device will therefore be shorter and wider than its predecessors.
