There are always new chipsets being developed by Qualcomm. Qualcomm recently introduced the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3, which has attracted a lot of attention. The company is preparing to launch new chipsets for smartphones under the codenames “Volcano” and “Pitti,” according to information we have.
The company is developing three different SoCs with the model numbers SM4635, SM6650, and SM7635. One of these SOCs is SM4635 with the codename “pitti.”. 3 months ago, we learned that it is a Snapdragon 4 Gen 3. Our internal sources reveal that the successor to the Snapdragon 7S Gen 2 SOC, the SM7635, is currently being developed. Volcano is the codename given to this SOC. There’s no information about its specs. As compared to the 7S Gen 2, it’s supposed to be faster.
SM7635 is expected to deliver lower performance than Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. In order to increase competition in affordable mid-range devices, Qualcomm is making this prediction. It is possible that Qualcomm is targeting a wider audience with this new processor by offering it at a more competitive price point. Currently, we are unable to comment on processor performance.
A new version of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is also being developed by Qualcomm, called the SM6650. Like the SM7635, the SM6650 will have a similar design. A codename “volcano” is used for both SOCs. As a result, it will be similar to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7S Gen 2. The codename “parrot” was used for the 6 Gen 1 and 7S Gen 2. We will see how the company’s new SOCs improve on their predecessors in the smartphones it releases.
