If you look at Sony’s smartphone design language throughout the past few years, you can’t say that it isn’t consistent. The Xperia 1 VI is now rumored to retain its design but change two rather significant things ahead of its possible May release.
There won’t be a 4K screen anymore. There was probably no point in insisting any further since every other flagship device that sells better than the Xperia line doesn’t have a 4K screen and no one cares. Sony is the only company trying to push 4K in smartphones and now it’s rumored to give up.
Additionally, the Xperia 1 VI is said to ditch the tall cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio in favor of 19.5:9. Therefore, it should be shorter and wider than its predecessor, as shown in the concept images above. It seems this is another Sony-only thing that hasn’t worked out, so if you were wondering when it would be gone, it appears to be coming to an end soon.
It all depends on whether or not this rumor comes true. There’s a lot of logic behind these rumors, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re accurate. It was also leaked a few days ago how much RAM the Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 5 VI, and Xperia 10 VI will have.
