Xiaomi is reportedly developing the Redmi K80 smartphone. According to a new leak, the Redmi K80 could launch in the brand’s home market of China soon. The K80 is the successor to the K70 series.
It was revealed by Chinese microblogging site Weibo tipper Smart Pikachu. According to the tipster, the Redmi K80 series is progressing quickly. With the upcoming Redmi K80 lineup, Smart Pikachu also said that the Chinese tech giant is also shifting its strategy. Xiaomi will now only focus on flagship models and not on more affordable midrange models.
As a result, the Redmi K80e could be removed from the K80 series. Accordingly, China will only see the base K80 and K80 Pro. However, the tipster did not mention the higher-end Pro model. Smart Pikachu believes that the “e” model may be transferred to another lineup altogether, the Note series. Redmi may announce a Redmi Note 14e variant if this is true.
The tipster only provided this information. A Weibo tipster claimed just last week that the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro would come with next-generation Snapdragon processors. Since the smartphones are expected to launch sometime in late 2024, it is unclear whether the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Gen 4 chip is being used.
