Apple often explores multiple design options during its product development process. Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are undergoing a similar experimental phase, with some particularly unusual camera configurations.
Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro was rumored to have a camera module that looks like a fidget spinner last week. An upcoming Pro iPhone might feature a triangular rear camera module, giving it an electric razor-like appearance.
On X/Twitter, Majin Bu shared the potential design for the iPhone 16 Pro, citing unnamed sources. According to the tipster, Apple may be considering this design because it can accommodate larger cameras or more lenses.
There is also speculation that the iPhone 16 Pro will include an upgraded telephoto lens in addition to the camera bump. Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Pro Max may even have a larger primary sensor.
Sony’s Exmor IMX903 is a likely candidate. According to rumors, the maximum camera resolution will still be 48MP. Before finalizing a design, Apple tests a wide range of prototypes. This triangular camera bump may fulfill the same fate as previous rumors about a punch-hole front camera for the iPhone 16.
This information can’t be verified even by the tipsters themselves. This leak should therefore be treated with caution.
