In the market for foldable smartphones, Samsung is one of the leading brands. The company is also working on very futuristic designs for foldable smartphones. A new foldable concept device Samsung displayed at CES 2024 is a clamshell-folding phone, like the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but it can also be folded inside out.
The Samsung foldable phone was displayed at CES 2024. Although it looks like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5, this one lets you fold it inside out, so it’s called ‘Flex In&Out’.
The device uses in-and-out foldable technology that allows it to be folded 360 degrees. Despite its slim and sleek design, Samsung says the single display can be folded outwards so it can still be used. According to Samsung, the panels for this foldable device have been tested under extreme temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the foldable panels were rubbed with sand and immersed in water while basketballs bounced on them.
CES 2024 will also feature futuristic products from Samsung Display. The ‘Rollable Flex’, for example, has a screen that expands five times its original size when unrolled. Another option is the ‘Flex Hybrid’, which features both foldable and sliding features. A wireless earphone case with a display is also on display at Samsung.
While these are only concept devices, they offer a glimpse into the future of foldable devices. The foldable phone market is slowly reaching the mass market, but it still caters to a niche target market. In the near future, we will likely see new kinds of foldable phones on the market.
