There have been numerous leaks and rumors about Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series for quite some time now. As a result of reliable tipster Evan Blass, we now know when Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will take place.
A recent leak by Evan Blass revealed the launch date for the Galaxy S24 series as well as hints about the event. According to the teaser, Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will take place on January 18, 2024, at 3:00 AM KST (Korean Standard Time). In other time zones, that’s 7:00 PM GMT, 1:00 PM EST, and 11:30 PM IST.
It falls within our expected launch window, but this Unpacked promises something different. There is a hint of deeper integration with AI in the event teaser, with the tagline “Galaxy AI is coming.” It is interesting to note that the icon accompanying it is similar to that of Google Bard.
Samsung may integrate Bard technology into the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung may be simply using a similar aesthetic for its AI branding, however.
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 and S23+ use the ISOCELL GN3 sensor – a 50MP sensor with 1.0m pre-binned pixels in a 1.56-inch optical format. In the Galaxy S22 series, the GN3 replaced the GN5 – another 1/1.56-inch imager with 1.0m pixels and slightly different frame rates at different resolutions (slower at the full 50MP, faster at the binned 12.5).
It is by no means a bad sensor – on the contrary, it is quite large. Aside from the sensor, future phones may have better optics and lenses as well as faster and more sophisticated image processors in their chipsets.
According to reports, the Ultra’s Night mode will be improved, and the new 200 MP mode will be AI-optimized. Ice Universe said the algorithm will recognize 12 kinds of objects and optimize them to improve image quality.
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the only smartphone in the lineup to use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. With big promises for AI operations, Qualcomm launched the Ultra with big promises.
