In a few weeks, the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES) will be held in Las Vegas. ASUS announced its ROG event yesterday, a day before its annual tech event kicks off on January 9. At the event, the company may launch multiple laptops and the next-generation ROG Phone 8 series. On January 16, the latter will also launch in China. We now have a clear look at the upcoming gaming smartphones ahead of the launch event.
The ROG Phone 8 teaser gave us a glimpse of the upcoming offering, along with confirmation of a redesigned camera module. It posted a blind camera test on its official website that asks visitors to pick the best-looking photograph in various scenarios. Following completion of the test, the page reveals the ROG Phone 8, giving us a closer look at its back panel design.
Design:
Compared to its predecessor, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 has a boxy frame. It has a dual-tone design with a lighter and darker shade of the same color variant (Grey and Black). It has a protruding squarish camera module that cuts off from its right edge. This camera has one large sensor, two smaller lenses, and an LED flash. ROG’s RGB logo is located at the bottom of the device.
It has curved edges, and a USB-C port can be found on its left edge. Moreover, the test revealed images mentioning ‘telephoto (x3)’ and ‘telephoto (x10)’ categories. There is a possibility that the ROG Phone 8 series will come with a telephoto camera.
