Every time Sony releases a flagship mobile device, it introduces something never seen before. One Japanese news outlet with a fairly accurate track record regarding Sony-related rumors has an idea of what’s coming next to the Xperia line, in a way.
The 2024 model should be called “Xperia 1 VI” if the naming rules remain the same, but those who are familiar with this series know that every generation is equipped with something that is “world’s first.”. This is one of them.
A dual-layer transistor pixel-stacked CMOS image sensor was the world’s first in this year’s Xperia 1 V, for example. A Weibo user recently posted interesting information regarding the “world’s first” camera features that will be added to the next-generation “Xperia 1 VI”.
Therefore, the next-generation Xperia will incorporate a new technology that digitally signs captured images within the camera, and this will be the world’s first.
Further, this new in-camera digital signature technology will be added to the recently announced full-frame mirrorless single-lens cameras “α9 III”, “α1”, and “α7S III” through a future software update. The release date for the smartphone app is not mentioned.
Sony’s new digital signature appears to use a different program.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is expected to power the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 5 VI in 2024, is not used in Sony’s high-end SLR cameras. The number should be higher than what is currently there.
Hence, this new feature can be implemented on smartphones technically relatively easily.
