With all the leaks and teasers for the OnePlus 12, we now have official confirmation for the phone’s main camera sensor. A new dual-layer stacked sensor for the OnePlus 12 is being developed by OnePlus and Sony.

A stacked CMOS sensor with two layers of transistors and photodiodes allows for larger diodes and more light capture. OnePlus already used a Sony Lytia 808 sensor on the OnePlus Open, but it appears the OnePlus 12 will use a different Lytia sensor. Additionally, BBK brands Oppo and Vivo announced partnerships with Sony’s Lytia earlier this year, which likely means the upcoming Find X6 and vivo X100 phones will have dual-layer stacked sensors.

It was previously reported that the OnePlus 12 would feature a 50MP Sony IMX966 main sensor alongside a 64MP telephoto module (OmniVision OV64B) with 3x optical zoom and a 48MP ultrawide lens. The OnePlus 12 will also feature an OLED display developed by BOE.

Next month, the OnePlus 12 is expected to launch in China, followed by a global release in early 2024.
