For ‘Make in India’ laptops, Intel collaborates with Indian manufacturers

Intel has partnered with eight renowned Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to accelerate laptop manufacturing in India. In order to build a robust laptop manufacturing industry in the country, Intel provided key technological and operational insights. With this initiative, Intel is accelerating technology-led growth in alignment with Make in India.

Intel has collaborated with Bhagwati Products Ltd, Dixon Technologies India Ltd, Kaynes Technology India Ltd, Optiemus Electronics Ltd, Panache Digilife Ltd, Smile Electronics Ltd, Syrma SGS Technology Ltd, and VVDN Technologies Private Ltd. Many of these companies are entering the laptop manufacturing market for the first time. In order to meet both domestic and global demand, Intel is collaborating with the Indian manufacturing ecosystem.

The collaboration enabled Intel to facilitate the production of complete entry-level laptops in India, including the use of state-of-the-art SMT lines, setting up a quality control process for components, and even benchmarking finished products. Semi Knocked Down (SKD) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) processes were also supported by Intel for ODMs.

Later in November, Intel will host the India Tech Ecosystem Summit, which will bring together a wide range of Indian manufacturers to demonstrate a broader range of products. An array of opportunities lie ahead for India’s electronics manufacturing industry. In order to create a meaningful impact for India, Intel will continue to collaborate with the government, industry, and start-up community to enable access and opportunities for the Indian IT ecosystem.
