Apple is likely to release a budget-friendly version of its high-end Apple Watch Ultra device. Recent FCC renders showed a redesigned Watch Ultra.
In September 2022, the tech giant introduced its first Watch Ultra, followed by its Watch Ultra 2 in the second half of 2023. Both the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2 were launched in India for Rs 89,900.
FCC renders of the Apple Watch Ultra were shared by @ParrotSWD on X. As with the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the design is rugged, with the digital crown, Action button, speaker grilles, and microphones positioned as on the Apple Watch Ultra 2. This appears to be an economical variant of the Apple Watch Ultra, based on some distinct differences.
In the FCC renders, the Watch Ultra appears to have a black ceramic back panel similar to the Apple Watch Series 9. Also, the Watch Ultra 2’s Action button appears to be redesigned and constructed from plastic rather than metal. Apple may not use the Ultra name for this version if it does make it to market.
As a result of the observed differences, Apple may be creating an Apple Watch Ultra with a more affordable price tag. It is also possible that they are working on lowering the price of the Apple Watch Ultra series in order to broaden its appeal.
Before the official launch, Apple must submit various prototypes to the FCC, so it is recommended to approach this information cautiously. With the next Apple Watch Ultra release still some time away, the current renderings may represent an early prototype.
