Satellite-based giga-fiber service JioSpaceFiber is India’s first. On Friday, the Mukesh Ambani-led telecom operator successfully demonstrated the premium broadband service. It was announced that Jio will soon be offering satellite-based broadband services across the country at highly affordable prices. As a result of the satellite-based broadband service, the telco will be able to offer broadband services to the remotest corners of the country, which were previously inaccessible. With this new service, Jio will make digital inclusion accessible to every Indian household.
Jio has already provided high-speed broadband fixed line and wireless services to over 450 million Indians through its JioFiber and JioAirFiber broadband services, according to a press release from the telecom operator. By offering JioSpaceFiber, the company will be able to reach even more consumers in remote parts of the country. In addition, Jio promises that the service will be available for an affordable price, making it accessible to everyone.
Jio’s new broadband offerings will provide businesses and consumers with reliable, low-latency, and high-speed internet access. Jio also claims JioSpaceFiber will increase mobile backhaul capacity. As a result, True5G will become available in remote areas of the country and its scale will be increased.
Those living in remote parts of India will have access to both 5G and high-speed broadband. With JioSpaceFiber, Jio has already connected four of the most remote locations in India. These include Gir (Gujarat), Korba (Chattisgarh), Nabrangpur (Orissa), and ONGC Jorhat (Assam).
For JioSpaceFiber, Jio has partnered with Luxembourg-based SES to use the latest Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite technology. In this partnership, Jio will use SES’s O3b and new O3bmPOWER satellites for JioSpaceFiber. It is the only MEO constellation that can deliver Gigabit, fibre-like broadband service from space. Jio is therefore ensuring JioSpaceFiber offers the same level of scalable and affordable broadband service with a guarantee of reliability and service flexibility as JioFiber and JioAirFiber.
