In February 2023, Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Samsung and AMD developed the Exynos chip for the previous series, the Galaxy S22. Samsung is likely to integrate AMD GPUs into its mid-range Exynos processors in 2024, according to recent online reports.
Based on a recent blog post by Revegnus, the company plans to introduce mRDNA-based GPUs in its mid-range Exynos 1430 and Exynos 1480 chips next year. The Exynos 2200 chip, which uses an mRDNA-based GPU, performed very well in the Manhattan 3.1 test, scoring 170.7 frames per second, while Apple’s A14 Bionic chip scored 120 frames per second.
Nevertheless, it is clear from the post that high gaming performance is not to be expected from this processor. This processor will be more focused on ISP than gaming, according to Revegnus, which means enhancements to image capture will be provided by the Exynos 1430 and Exynos 1480.
