Apple will announce the iPhone 15 and new Apple Watch models at its special event in a few days. Apple Watch rumors have consistently stated that no major changes are expected this year. Bloomberg reports that the Apple Watch Series 9 will feature an updated heart rate sensor and other small hardware improvements.
Apple is expected to announce two new Apple Watches this year: Series 9 (in sizes 41 mm and 45 mm) and Ultra 2 (in sizes 49 mm and 49 mm). The Apple Watch is expected to be redesigned in 2024, just like its predecessors.
Both the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will have a new chip with a faster processor, according to previous rumors. For all Apple Watch models, including Series 8, Ultra, and 2nd generation SE, Apple has been using the same processor since Series 6.
Apple Watch models this year will feature more than just the new chip. Several sensors and internal components will be upgraded in all the new models, including a new heart rate sensor, Mark Gurman has heard from sources. Bloomberg claims that the new sensor is more accurate, though details are unclear.
A new version of Apple’s ultra-wideband chip, the U2, is also expected to be included in the latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2. This chip will enhance Find My capabilities.” iPhone 15 is also expected to include the new chip.
Gurman also revealed that the new Apple Watch Ultra will also be available in an all-black version. First-generation titanium is only available in grey, its natural color. Apple may offer similar colors between the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 since the iPhone 15 Pro supposedly has a titanium frame.
