Apple announced the iPhone 15 series, Watch Series 9, Watch Ultra 2, and more during its annual fall event. Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the successor to last year’s model. It is the company’s flagship smartwatch aimed at adventure and outdoor enthusiasts. With the Watch Ultra models, Apple appears to be taking on Garmin. Compared to its predecessor, the second-generation offering offers incremental improvements.
Specs:
As with its predecessor, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 sports a rugged design that should be able to withstand damage. With a 49mm casing and a raised shell to protect the display, it has an aerospace-grade titanium unibody. The wearable device is MIL-STD 810H-certified, which is a military standard for rugged equipment. Additionally, it is WR100-rated water-resistant and EN 13319-certified, an international diving standard. As a result, the smartwatch can be used for kitesurfing, wakeboarding, and scuba diving up to 40 meters deep. Double-tap gestures on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 can be used to answer calls, pause and resume timers, and perform other tasks without interacting with the device.
On the right side of the Apple Watch Ultra, there is a rotating crown and an action button that allows quick access to a number of features. It features an Always-on Retina display with a brightness of 3,000 nits for viewing in bright sunlight. Smartwatches feature three microphones and adaptive beamforming to reduce background noise and improve call quality. Additionally, it uses machine learning to reduce wind noise so that the audio is clear.
In terms of health and fitness features, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 comes with a heart rate monitor, an ECG sensor, and a SpO2 sensor. A number of Apple’s smartwatches have been used to detect atrial fibrillation and save lives. The wearable device tracks women’s menstrual cycles with thermometry for improved forecasting. Furthermore, it has two sensors that eliminate body bias and external bias for women. Retroactive ovulation estimates can also benefit family planning.
A multi-band dual-frequency GPS is included in the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Professional swimmers and divers can use the pro-running features and depth gauge. In case the user gets lost, the device has an 86 dB siren with emergency features. When it senses a severe car crash and the user is unresponsive after 10 seconds, the smartwatch dials emergency medical services.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 features a new S9 processor that is touted to deliver significant performance improvements. In addition, it offers improved Find My capabilities, precise location tracking, and greater power efficiency thanks to a second-generation ultrawideband chip. Under normal usage, the latest smartwatch is said to last 36 hours and up to 72 hours with low power enabled. It runs watchOS10, which introduces new widgets, redesigned app icons, and a Modular Ultra watch face that utilizes the outer edge of the screen.
Pricing:
Starting September 22, it will be available for purchase. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 will set you back with a price tag of Rs.89,990/- in India.
