Today, Xiaomi unveiled its third-generation foldable smartphone in China. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is a horizontal foldable phone that unfolds into a tablet.
The Honor Magic V2 holds the record for the thinnest foldable handset when folded, beating this record. As with the company’s regular flagship smartphones, it also comes with a Leica-tuned camera.
In addition to a new hinge, the new foldable comes with a revamped design.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3:
With a few changes, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 retains the boxy look of the Mix Fold 2. As opposed to three lenses, the rectangular camera island now houses four lenses.
Folded, the device is just 10.96m thick and 5.26mm thin when unfolded. With its new waterdrop hinge, it can withstand over 500,000 folds and is more durable than its predecessor. Hover mode also allows the display to stay still between 45° and 135° angles.

It features a 2K resolution and an 8.03-inch foldable screen with UTG protection. The outer 21:9 FHD+ display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and measures 6.56 inches.
Using E6 material, both panels support 120Hz refresh rates and Dolby Vision. Their maximum peak brightness is 2600 nits. There is even a rating of 1300 nits for their global brightness.
Dual stereo speakers accompany these two screens. Based on Android 13, MIUI 14 Fold runs on the phone. This handset is said to be fully optimized for the top 200 apps in China.
With LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, the smartphone is powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. With a 4,800mAh battery, it supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Finally, the device boasts a Leica-tuned quad-camera system and two 20MP front-facing cameras. Sony’s IMX800 sensor is the main sensor, along with 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP 3.2x telephoto, and 10MP 5x periscope cameras. The other three cameras have OIS except for the ultra-wide camera.
The product is available in two variants: glass and dragon scale fiber. Black and gold are available for the former. In contrast, the latter uses a 36-times stronger aerospace fiber composite material. Both versions, however, cost the same.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will cost 8999 Yuan (Rs.1,03,800/-) for 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB at 9999 Yuan (Rs.1,15,300/-) & 16GB+1TB at 10,999 Yuan (Rs.1,25,990/-) in China.
