According to Taiwanese media reports yesterday, Asus will discontinue the Zenfone smartphone series and move its employees to the ROG Phone department as part of its organizational restructuring. The brand, however, has issued a statement refuting those claims, saying that the report is untrue.
It was also reported that Asus reduced the number of employees in its PC departments in China and Taiwan. While Asus hasn’t commented on layoffs in its PC division, the brand has assured customers that its Zenfone and ROG Phone lines will not be discontinued.
“We would like to address the rumor that Asus Zenfone 10 will be the last generation of the series and the Asus Zenfone product line will be shut down. This is not true. We will continue our two main phone business product lines, the ROG Phone and the Zenfone. Asus has a strong commitment to our smartphone business and customers. Please reference our Q2 earnings call for more information. Please stay tuned for our 2024 product lineups,” said Asus in its official press statement.
Asus planned the restructuring back in June after its first quarterly loss in more than four years was reported in its financial report.
